Gone So Young

Listen to the song !

As I told you, we used to spend our time making music but also skating. Actually, mostly skating.
One day, we heard that a new skate park had been opened and we wanted to go there and try it. But it wasn't so close. We decided to go anyway, but Luke had something to do, so he said that he would join us later in the park. Luke was the only of us whose family had a car, so they would take him to the park later.
Once we arrived at the park, we were very impressed. It was huge! It was the best skate park we'd ever skated in. We called Luke to ask him how long it would take him to arrive, but he didn't answer. We tried a few more times, but the result was the same. Finally, we just decided to try the park, and if Luke arrived we would skate with him.
But the time passed and we didn't know what was going on with Luke. Once again we called him, but again he didn't answer. We called his mother, father, and brother, but none of them answered the phone. We were worried. We didn't know what could have happened.
After a while, we decided to go back to our houses and maybe during our way back we would find Luke. But when we were halfway home, we saw the police leading traffic because there a truck had crashed a car. Suddenly, we stopped. Our faces were pale, we were shocked, frost, we didn't know what to do or even think.
We recognized the car. That was Luke's car. We tried to reach the car, but the police didn't let us, we looked for Luke, but we couldn't find him. After being struggling with the police, they realized that it was our friend, and told us that he had been taken to the hospital. We tried to get to the hospital as fast as we could, but when we got there, we saw Luke's family crying. When they saw us, they explained us what had happened.
Have you ever thought what you would do without your friends? Or without someone you love? Obviously, this is not a typical or normal question we ask ourselves because we never think about it. We are too used to our lives that we never think that suddenly everything can change.
That's exactly what happened to me. I used not to worry about the future, just to live my life, to enjoy my friends and that, but I never thought that maybe one day it would be different.
I don't have a lot of friends, I've always thought that it is better have a few but good friends than a lot but not so good. So my group was basically my 5 friends with whom I have lived practically my whole life. Justin, Dango, Jeremy, Will, and Luke.
We grew up together: we lived near each other, we studied in the same school and even we tried everything to be in the same high school. So we spent our whole lives together. As typical teenagers, we used to spend our free time skating, but besides that, we shared a love for music and we tried to form a rock band. Each of us could do something in the band: Jeremy and Will played the guitar, Justin the Bass, Dango the drums, Luke played keyboards, and I was the singer.
We started to play together during high school, and we used every opportunity to play in there: Festivals, shows, theatrical performances, and even the graduation and the Dance. So by the end of the year, we were a bit known between our close surrounds.

Luke asked his father to take him to the park, but he couldn't so his brother offered himself to take him. Luke's brother was older than us, and he had his driver license. But that didn't matter. Actually, it wouldn't matter if he would be a professional driver with a lot of experience. No one would ever imagine what was going to happen. They were on their way to the park, listening to our latest song, talking about it when the truck crashed them. The police had told Luke's parents that it wasn't their sons' fault. The truck's driver fell asleep and didn't stop in the red light. Chris (Luke's brother) couldn't avoid the impact, and Luke received the heaviest part because the truck crashed his side of the car. The probabilities of Luke to survive were very low, so the doctor said that it was better to be prepared for the worst.
We couldn't believe it, he was only eighteen just like us. He had a whole life to live. But after all, he couldn't survive. The crash had been so heavy and the impact too strong for him.
Finally, the doctor went out to confirm the terrible news. Luke was dead. We didn't know how to react to that. He was our friend, our brother. We had lived all our lives together, and now we will only have him on our memory.
I've never dreamt it'd be this way, a life made of memories. He has gone so young.
That was the moment when our lives completely changed. We would never be the six friends again, the band would never be complete. We have lost our friend, our brother.
Now we will have to live with his memory, having him in our hearts. We all know now that we have someone to look after us from another place. And Luke will always be part of our lives, he will always be with us.
After Luke's accident, we swore that we would accomplish our dreams, for Luke. We worked really hard to make that promise real and after some years we signed a contract with a label.
We knew that Luke was always with us, and he had helped to accomplish that. So we decided to make a tribute for Luke in our first disc. We wrote a song for him and that way we knew that he would be part of the band forever, and he would always be present in our music.
